The Central Coast region of British Columbia is home to over 4,400 people – mostly First Nations groups – and features coastal temperate rainforests and pristine watersheds, rugged shorelines and steep mountainous terrain.
The Colorado River basin is home to more than 40 dams and diversions and functions more as a system of regulated canals and reservoirs than a river.
The new refuge is part of the Hopper Mountain National Wildlife Refuge Complex in Ventura, Calif.
